SHOW TIMELINE
2012
The Beginning
The inaugural Perth Stamp & Coin Show opened its doors at the University of Western Australia with 14 dealers and many eager collectors. Ian and a small group of passionate organisers laid the foundation for what would become Western Australia’s premier philatelic and numaismatic event.

2013
Growing the Community
The 2013 Perth Stamp and Coin Show was a hugely successful 2 day event with 22 local and interstate dealers and an additional 20 collectors with tables upstairs replicating the “European” style flea markets. Attendance was nearly 600 with many keen collectors appreciating the opportunity to see both stamp and coin dealers in the same venue with some even venturing into new collecting fields. Australia Post attended with a special postmark for each day of the show, the second of which celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the University of WA Student Guild, the venue for the show.

2017
New South Perth Location
The 2017 Perth Stamp and Coin Show was the first 3-day event and the first where Australia Post was in attendance from the Melbourne Philatelic Bureau. It was a tremendous success and the best yet with nearly 900 collectors attending across the weekend. We had 26 international, interstate & local dealers from as far afield as England, America and Thailand. In addition there was another 14 collectors’ tables replicating the “European” style flea markets. Those who attended confirmed it was now Perth’s premier stamp and coin event with a balanced mix of both collecting fields.

2019
Royal Australian Mint
The November 2019 Perth Stamp and Coin Show was the second 3-day event staged in 2019 after the first in March. This was the first time the Royal Australian Mint from Canberra was in attendance, complimented by Australia Post opposite who had travelled from the Melbourne Philatelic Bureau. It was a tremendous success and the best yet with over 1000 collectors attending across the weekend. We had 30 international, interstate & local dealers from as far afield as England, America and South Africa.

2022
10 Years of the Perth Stamp & Coin Show
In 2022, the Perth Stamp & Coin Show proudly celebrated its 10th anniversary. Numbers were slightly down at the March show due to COVID-19 public health restrictions in place here in Western Australia. The people that did turn up were all passionate and highly engaged and there was a real sense of camaraderie across the weekend with dealers positive about their takings. A second 2022 show was run in October with a formal dinner on the Saturday evening to celebrate the 10th anniversary. Over the last 10 years, Ian and his team have made a raft of improvements to the increasingly popular show, moving to a newer, larger venue with better amenities and expanding their marketing efforts to attract new collectors to the event.

Four Different PNCs Produced to Celebrate WA Related Events and Individuals
Any reservations that hosting another Perth Stamp & Coin Show within six months of the big 10th Anniversary would affect visitor numbers or affect trade was soon dispelled! Local, interstate, and international dealers attracted the usual large crowds starting on Friday lunchtime with a rush to be first at the dealers’ tables for the best buys and long queues for the keenly anticipated Australia Post special edition show Miniature Sheets and PNCs.
Whilst some collectors find it hard to break away from buying to listen the recipient of the free door entry prizes that are drawn throughout the weekend, all eyes were on the young winner of the top prize, a Western Australia 1854 Penny Black Swan. He was genuinely thrilled and very engaged in the history as well as interested in the hobby.
